Your first power as a tactical captain cements what this class is about it increases all the things that make a Tactical Captain great, better at doing basically everything related to dealing damage for a short time.Ī Red Triangle with the Greek letter for alpha appears over your vessel and grants bonuses to Dmg, Critical Chance, Critical Severity and Flight Turn Rate, Lasts 30 Seconds and has a cool down of around 1 Minute. Tactical Captains are the DPS (damage per second) class of STO, much like a rogue in WoW or a Ranger in Neverwinter, your job is to inflict as much damage as possible in the shortest amount of time.Īnd you gain the following abilities from rank to rankĪt Lieutenant you gain the following 2 Abilities, 1 Ground, 1 SpaceĪ visor appears around you characters head and grants bonuses to Dmg, Critical Chance and Critical Severity, generally lasts 15 seconds and has a cooldown of around 1 minute. So you want to know what each class does before you choose one, fair enough. That's not to say you cannot pick any race / class combination, it's just that some are better assigned to certain paths than others Once you have chosen this you get to choose your race, unlike most games STO gives you a massive choice when it comes to race (for the 25th Century federation especially) and each one has bonuses to a certain class or field. Tac+escorts are total crap.So you wanna start playing Star Trek Online. ![]() I duel him in Ground PVP, he died in 2 seconds. I die in 5 seconds from a lower grade science vessel in PVP. ![]() I have Full Golden Epic gear at the highest grade.Įscorts are complete and total turds. it is total waste of time for DPS, Unless it is against the crystral-e normally i can get 1st or 2nd place. Do not view what they people posted with any salt until you use this calculator. There is many Websites with load out calculators to do this for you. What you are looking for a is a High Purple quality ship t6 AND a good load out. T6 store bought ships mean nothing, escorts are total crap as well. If not, is it possible to sort of retool a cruiser to be an effect offensive vessel for a tactical officer? I have found that I dislike cruisers as they are too slow, but I find escorts almost too fast and fragile, so I was wondering if there was a vessel that is a middle ground between a cruiser and an escort, like a destroyer or something. I alweys was fond of jam'hadar ships due i love DS9 ![]() Or pick ship who was fetured prominently in show who you like a lot/fond of ![]() Think what you find most fun (im science guy flying engineer/escort, in normal play your class does not matter that much, (its a myth escort flies only escort, science just science) I chosen jam'hadar dread carrier(it was a gift from guild leader) and i dont regret it, its good ship hybrid of escort and cruiser who has carrier capabilities Yeah, this is tip my guild leader told me (or maybe was other guild mate) pick ship based on looks, later when you play longer you will get some other ship but first one you most likely fly everyday/longest so make it count Pick something that you think looks good bc that could be your ship for a while. Later on if you want minmax ship you will fly sometimes for fun but if you want your every day ship pick something pretty or fun rather then rely on class/consoles/what it can do Originally posted by Varenvel The Mildly Grumpy Dino:get pretty ship, in normal play ship type/dps is highly unrelevant
